Linping is the youngest district in Zhejiang Province, optimization and adjustment were conducted for administrative division of Hangzhou City on April 9, 2021. The former Yuhang District was divided into Linping District and New Yuhang District with the boundary of the canal. The east part to the canal is Linping District governing 7 sub-districts and 1 town, including 127 communities and 57 villages. The regional area is 286 square kilometers, the registered population is 583 thousand, and the actual population under management is 1.563 million.

Linping is an important place connecting Hangzhou and Shanghai. With superior locational conditions, it is located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, and is the gateway for the northeast of Hangzhou. At the intersection point between G60 Great Corridor of Science and Innovation and Hangzhou Chengdong Smart Manufacturing Corridor, it is the first bridgehead for Hangzhou to integrate into the Yangtze River Delta and integrate with Shanghai. Linping has a convenient traffic network; Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, Hangzhou-Haining Intercity Railway and urban mass transit join here. The whole journey of the high-speed railway from Linping to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station only takes 1 hour and 2 minutes. Besides, in Yuhang Economic and Technological Development Zone, a railway station of Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou Line (temporarily names Linping North Station) is planned; “three-road and one-ring” express way is interconnected and extending in all directions. With unique shipping resources like the Grand Canal and Canal Channel 2 (under construction), it can realize combined transportation of lake, river and sea.

Linping is the highland of intelligent manufacturing. With two platforms including Yuhang Economic and Technological Development Zone (economic and technological development zone at national level) and Linping New City, it has created a batch of innovation incubation and industrial parks including the Provincial Biomedical High-tech Park, Industrial Internet Town, and Robot Industrial Park; gathered a batch of innovative platforms like Ali Cloud supET Industrial Internet Innovation Center, Service Manufacturing Research Institute of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Zhejiang University; cultivated a batch of industrial chain leading enterprises like ROBAM, CFMOTO, and Betta Pharmaceuticals. The district has 628 industrial enterprises above designated size, including 199 enterprises above million Yuan, 20 enterprises above 1 billion Yuan, and 17 listed enterprises. Three enterprises are listed as the first batch of the “Future Factory” approved by the province, occupying the 1/4 of the whole province. Through cultivation of multiple years, featured advantageous industries led by high-end equipment smart manufacturing, biological medicine and new materials are formed.

Linping is the famous spot of digital fashion. Textile and clothing is the traditional competitive industry of Linping, and has been transformed into fashion industry gradually via “design+”, “digital+” and “technology+” during recent years. The provincial characteristic town Yishang Town of the district has invited and gathered 30 top fashion designers and more than 800 fashion enterprises at home and abroad. It is the first batch of textile and clothing innovation pilot park and the permanent site of China Fashion Hangzhou Summit and Asian Fashion United China Congress. It has attracted a batch of fashion innovation platforms like School of Fashion, Zhejiang Sci-tech University and China Institute of Garment Science and Innovation; a batch high-end consumption blocks including Ruili Light Luxury Block and Brilliance Square Outlets have settled down here. Hence, the temperament of modern fashion becomes increasingly prominent.

Linping is a rich and precious place. The name of Linping appeared in the history annals during the Eastern Han Dynasty, and a market was formed in the Jin Dynasty. Since the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it has been the only way and biggest port of leaving Hangzhou in the east of Shangtang Heshui Road. A town was built in the first year of Duangong in the Northern Song Dynasty, and became the provincial capital in the Southern Song Dynasty. With a long history and gathering of talents, it has “Liangzhu Culture” of more than 5,000 years, “Canal Culture” of more than 2,000 years, and “Chaoshan Plum Blossom Culture” of more than 1,000 years. The traces of Su Dongpo (Literati of the Northern Song Dynasty) and Wu Changshuo (Master of Modern Calligraphy and Painting) have been left here.

Linping is a place of happiness with pleasant living environment. It is located in the Hangjiahu Plain, and the Grand Canal and Shangtang River flow past the region. Presenting a level field and star-studded ponds, Linping District is the typical Jiangnan Watertown and abundant place. It is a “beautiful place of Jiangnan” under the pen of the literature master, Feng Zikai. The district has tourist attractions and human landscapes including one of the three plum blossom appreciation places in Jiangnan (Chaoshan) and the ancient town Tangqi. In recent years, it has vigorously advanced special actions including “five-water co-governance”, “three transformations and one demolition”, comprehensive improvement of basic environment, and “beautiful city action”; a batch of public service facilities including the Grand Theater, Sports Center and Sports Park have been built; the district ecology is optimized continuously, the environment becomes more livable, and the life is extremely convenient.
